Every summer since 1993 Park Street Church in Boston has sent a group of volunteers to the Czech Republic to teach English at a summer camp for young people.  We have always gone at the invitation of one or another congregation of the Czech Církev Bratrská, a denomination with which Park Street Church has had a relationship for over a hundred years.  The 1993 camp was in Husinec and Kaplice, 1994 in Děčín, 1995 and 1996 in Husinec again, and since 1997 in Hronov, working with the congregation in Náchod.  In July of 2002 we were again in Hronov, working with a new congregation from Nové Město nad Metují.  Last summer the congregation in Nové Město nad Metují was too busy with construction of a new church building to have time for an English camp, but we went anyhow, to help them build. In 2002 several team members requested a brief summary of English grammar.  Since the camp is primarily aimed at improving fluency and communication skills in English, we rarely need to be authorities in the formalities of grammar.  A careful description, however, can still be helpful for the occasional question, and for the volunteers' confidence.  For that reason, I have written an outline of English grammar, not to be authoritative, but at least to cover the basics in a systematic way.  Since it might be useful to others, I've made it available here in a format suitable for reading in a web browser.
